This lovely lady is Leontine TISSONNEAU and her enfan [infant/child] Ambroise NANNETTE. Leontine was born circa 1880 in Grand Prairie, Louisiana to Narcisse Joseph Andre Tissoneau and Eulalie Roussillon, both free people of color. She was married to Leandre Nanette, fils [Jr.]. Leontine’s family could be traced to some of the earliest free people of color in Louisiana, some freed as early as 1770. Her family liberated each other out of bondage and established themselves as land owners.
